Welcome: Creating eBooks with InDesign CS4 & CS5
This in-depth, 6-hour workshop will teach you everything you need to know to dive into the rapidly expanding world of eBooks. Expert trainer Gabriel Powell takes you through every step in the process of creating an eBook, from setting up the InDesign document to exporting an EPUB file that can be read on a computer, smartphone, Apple iPad, or Sony Reader.
Topics covered include:
- Exporting your document from an InDesign CS4 or CS5 file to an EPUB file
- Converting an initial mockup layout into a production-ready template
- Formatting text in your eBook as hyperlinks, footnotes, and numbered and bulleted lists
- Preparing images and graphics for optimum display on different eBook readers
- Adding a cover page, navigation guide, and table of contents
You’ll also learn how to edit an eBook, customize its navigation, and create scalable images, as well as how to validate an EPUB file to ensure that it's error-free and fully compliant with the EPUB specification.
The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. You’ll also get exercise files you can use to follow along with the course and try out the techniques you learn.
