Welcome to Producing Great Video with the Adobe Media Encoder
In this workshop you’ll learn how to optimally produce compressed video with the Adobe Media Encoder. After providing an overview of the workflow, the tutorials will cover encoding-related concepts, producing video in a wide variety of formats, and advanced topics like adaptive streaming. The contents of this course include:
Introduction to the Adobe Media Encoder
This chapter introduces you to the Adobe Media Encoder and details the Premiere Pro to AME handoff.
Introduction to Streaming
It’s tough to compress your videos effectively if you don’t know the concepts behind compression and streaming, or if you don’t have a firm grasp of how to configure your videos. This chapter introduces you to streaming-related concepts like bandwidth, resolution, data rate, bitrate control, and so on.
Producing H.264 for Flash, Silverlight, HTML5, and QuickTime
H.264 is the codec you’ll probably use for Flash encoding, as well as for Apple iDevices, Silverlight, and HTML5. In this chapter, you’ll learn how to encode H.264 video for all those targets.
Using Other Codecs
In this chapter, you’ll learn to encode video to the VP6 and WMV formats.
Producing for Optical Disc
In this chapter, you’ll learn how to produce video for DVD and Blu-ray discs. We’ll look at the technical requirements for each and how they apply to the Adobe Media Encoder.
Adaptive Streaming
In this chapter, you’ll learn to produce video for adaptive streaming, specifically Apple's HTTP Live Streaming and Adobe's Dynamic Streaming.
The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. This course also includes project files so you can follow along and try out new techniques as you learn them.
