In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of the Building Information Modeling application Revit Architecture. The contents of this course include:
Getting Started
In this introductory chapter you’ll learn what Revit Architecture is and what it does, what hardware it requires, and how to use the project files included with this course.
The Revit World
In this chapter you’ll be introduced to Revit’s workflow and interface, as well as the types of files it uses. You’ll also learn how to select objects, navigate with views and the Project Browser, and even navigate in 3D.
Creating a Model
In this chapter you’ll learn the basic of creating a model, including adding walls and partitions, editing wall joins, creating doors and windows, and more.
Creating Views
Views are a key element of Revit, and in this chapter you’ll learn all about them. You’ll see how to add levels and views, constrain walls, add building and wall sections, and more.
Working with the Revit Tools and Commands
This chapter looks at fundamental Revit tools and commands that you’ll be using often in your work.
Dimensioning and Annotating
In this chapter you’ll learn how to work with dimensions in Revit and how to add text to a model.
Floors
This chapter looks at working with floors in Revit. You’ll learn how to create and place them, add a finish, change the material, and more.
Roofs
Roofs are really just floors turned upside-down. OK, not really, but working with roofs in Revit is similar to working with floors, as you’ll see in this chapter.
Structural Items
In this chapter you’ll learn how to add structural items like grids, columns, framing and beam systems, and bracing to a model.
Ceilings and Interiors
In this chapter you’ll learn how to create ceilings and add interior features like lighting and bathroom fixtures.
Stairs, Ramps, and Railings
Stairs, ramps, and railings all help people get from one place to another inside a building. In this chapter you’ll see how to add these features in Revit.
Schedules and Tags
In this chapter you’ll learn how to add schedules and fields, as well as how to create material takeoffs, legends, and tags.
Detailing
This chapter looks at working with details like line weights, components, notes, annotation crop regions, and more.
Creating Sheets and Printing
The way Revit manages sheets is a real strength of the software. In this chapter you’ll see how to create and populate sheets, modify a viewport, make revisions to a database, and share project information. We’ll also look at how Revit handles printing.
Rooms and Area Plans
In this chapter you’ll learn how to add rooms and area plans, as well as room schedules, color fill plans, and room separators.
Working with Families
Just as in real life, families are very important in Revit. In this chapter you’ll learn how to create and work with families.
The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. Also included are exercise files that give you an easy way to try out the techniques you learn.
It's easy to watch this course from your Android device, iPad, or iPhone (4 or later). Access videos straight from your browser, or, for Android devices or iPads, use this course in one of our free apps.
Project files are included with this course so you can practice what you learn and work right along with the videos.
This course features video2brain’s interactive interface. As you navigate the course, rolling over a chapter or video brings up text describing that item.
Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience. And Watch-and-Work mode puts the video into a resizable window that you can shrink so you can watch the lessons on one side of your screen while you’re following along and applying what you’ve learned on the other.
This course comes in crisp 1280 x 720 high definition video.
Available in the downloadable version of our courses, this feature makes it easy to create a custom bookmark in any lesson to mark where you left off or to make note of something you want to refer back to later. You can even add a name or short note to remind yourself what the bookmark is for.
