Welcome to Getting Started with Visual C# 2010
In this video training, professional developer Edward Tanguay teaches you the basics of the C# language using the free software Visual C# 2010 Express and Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. You first learn how to install these two pieces of software and then use them to create seven of the most popular types of projects:
- A Silverlight widget for a plain HTML page
- A Silverlight Out-of-Browser application
- A Silverlight Elevated Trust application
- A classic ASP.NET web site
- A ASP.NET MVC web site application
- A WPF application
- A console application
Armed with this knowledge, you will then learn about the basic variable types in C#. Beginning with the fundamentals of working with strings and the syntax peculiarities you need to be aware of when defining strings, you’ll move on to learn about string functions and characters, numbers, dates, arrays, operators, and more.
The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. Also included are exercise files that give you an easy way to try out the techniques you learn.
