In this workshop you’ll learn how to how to build a complete dynamic, database-driven website using ColdFusion 10 and ColdFusion Builder. The contents of this course include:
ColdFusion Fundamentals
In this chapter we’ll explore such basics as what ColdFusion is and what it does. You’ll also learn how to install ColdFusion, modify its settings, and set up a new project to get started with.
ColdFusion Basics
This chapter gets you started creating ColdFusion template pages and working with ColdFusion variables and include files. You’ll also become familiar with debugging in ColdFusion.
Pulling Data from a Database
This chapter looks at working with ColdFusion queries to pull data out of a database, including how to create a datasource in ColdFusion. We will also look at query properties that are available to you when a query is performed and how they can be used on your web pages.
Displaying Database Data
Once data has been pulled out of the database, it must be displayed on the page in some manner. In this chapter you’ll learn how to display database data and work with query properties in a web page.
Passing Data Between Pages
In this chapter you’ll learn how to use a querystring to pass URL variables between pages. We will also correct link issues within our navbar area and create a two-page tours interface that will allow the user to click a hyperlink for a tour and view the details about that tour on the next page.
Working with Form Data
In this chapter we will begin to work with form data for the Travel Adventures “Contact Us” page. You’ll see how the forms process works and learn how to reference and display data the user enters into a form.
Inserting New Tours into the Database
It is important for the admin to be able to insert new tours into the database via the web, and in this chapter we’ll create the pages and processes that make this possible.
Modifying Database Data
In this chapter we will look at how to modify existing data in a database using a SQL UPDATE statement. We will also look at using ColdFusion code to prevent SQL injections from occurring when data is inserted into a database with a web form. Finally, we’ll create a page that the admin can use as a home page to insert new tours or update existing tour information.

This course features video2brain’s interactive interface. As you navigate the course, rolling over a chapter or video brings up text describing that item.
Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience. And Watch-and-Work mode puts the video into a resizable window that you can shrink so you can watch the lessons on one side of your screen while you’re following along and applying what you’ve learned on the other.
This course comes in crisp 1280 x 720 high definition video.
Available in the downloadable version of our courses, this feature makes it easy to create a custom bookmark in any lesson to mark where you left off or to make note of something you want to refer back to later. You can even add a name or short note to remind yourself what the bookmark is for.
